Celtics' Wilcox to miss 3-4 games with calf injury

INDIANAPOLIS Chris Wilcox was running the floor, scoring in transition, making hustle plays defensively

"And then he got hurt," said Celtics head coach Doc Rivers.

It has been that kind of season for the 6-foot-10 forward, who Rivers said will be out three or four games with a left calf injury.

Wilcox, whom the C's signed with their "mini" mid-level exception worth 3 million, has been a huge disappointment thus far. In seven games, he is averaging 1.6 points per game and 1.9 rebounds - both career lows.

The fact that he'll be sidelined for the second time (he missed 3 games earlier with a shoulder injury) within the first month of the season, doesn't help.

To see the way he played in Friday's 88-79 loss to the Bulls, only adds to the frustration that the C's and just about every team Wilcox has suited up for, have had with the former lottery pick.

"I had a long talk with him today about that very thing," Rivers said. "That should be him every night. It really should. I said, 'I don't know. You been in the league seven years, eight years or whatever you've been in the league and uh,nothing.' But that should be him. I really believe that's him and he has that in him. I think he can do it every single night."

Wilcox is no different than most of the Celtics players. He knows he has to play better than he has thus far this season.

"I have to keep doing what I'm doing, man," Wilcox told CSNNE.com. "Eventually my opportunity is going to come. I just have to stay ready."

And healthy; don't forget to stay healthy.

Update:Keyon Dooling (right knee) is out for tonight's game, and is not with the team in Indianapolis.
