BOSTON -- Even after 10 NBA All-Star selections in 15 years, Ray Allen is still honored by the fact that he's simply considered for the accolade.
Allen was not named to the 2012 All-Star reserves, which were announced prior to the Celtics-Lakers game on Thursday. Shortly after, the 36-year-old guard posted 22 points (9-for-20 field-goal shooting, 2-for-6 on 3-point attempts), 6 rebounds and 2 assists in 40 minutes.
Just being able to be a consideration at this point, I would pretty much think that most people wouldnt have thought that I would still be in consideration, still playing good basketball and on a team that has a chance to compete for a championship, Allen said before the game. I know that my impact is being felt and what Im doing, Ive been doing the right things and continue to, so thats sometimes good enough.

Paul Pierce was the only member of the Celtics named to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team. Allen said he would not consider participating in the 3-point contest if he was not selected to the team.
"If Im not going to play in the game, then its great opportunity to take the whole week and just relax," he said. "Better on my body and my mind."
