Well, it finally happened for Paul Pierce. He played against the Celtics in the regular season.
Pierce had said that he didn't think it would be too emotional playing the C's in Brooklyn. He wasn't surprised by any emotions once he got on the court.
"Not really," he told CSNNE's Abby Chin. "I was just focused on trying to get back for my team after being injured for about a week and a half. Trying to get us back on the winning track. That was my whole focus today."
Pierce finished with 4 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in 22 minutes of playing time off the bench.
The Celtics trailed by 15 at one point in the 4th point, but came back to make it a five-point game late in the quarter. That wasn't a surprise to Pierce at all, who knows that wearing the Celtics jersey instills more will to win.
"I love those guys," he said. "They're going to continue to fight. That's that Celtics pride, and they all wear it with pride. You see it the way they play, the way they coached, you hear [Rajon] Rondo on the sideline coaching. They're going to continue to be the Celtics and they're going to always play with pride."
