Celtics rookie big man Kelly Olynyk is coming off an eye-opening performance in the Orlando Summer League, a good sign for the Boston Celtics squad that have been short of good signs lately.
But now comes a less favorable sign from the seven-footer the Celtics drafted 13th-overall out of Gonzaga in the 2013 NBA Draft – Olynyk is battling plantar fasciitis.
Plantar fasciitis, a common injury among basketball players, is an injury that commonly comes as a result of overuse, and can only be cured by rest. And rest is the route Olynyk will take – as he will opt not to play with the Canadian national team this summer, resting in hopes of recovering in time for the start of his first NBA season.
Olynyk averaged 18 points and 7.8 rebounds in the 2013 Orlando Summer League.
