The future of Doc Rivers in Boston, or anywhere in the NBA for that matter, is very uncertain.
That's the one thing that appears to be conclusive through the multiple reports that have surfaced throughout the week.
ESPN's Chris Broussard said early Wednesday that he was told Rivers might be looking for a change, while CSNNE Celtics insider A. Sherrod Blakely was told by a source that Rivers is still mulling his options.
If, in fact, Rivers still waiting to make a decision, then why does he appear to be playing this waiting game with the Celtics, especially after Danny Ainge said just last month that the Celtics coach is returning?
WEEI's Kirk Minihane tried to answer that question on "UNO Sports Tonight" on Wednesday, but even he saw it as out of character for Rivers.
"It sure doesn't seem to be consistent with his character in the past, it just seems really strange," Minihane said. "Obviously, unless he's the dumbest guy on the planet, which we know he's not, when he signed this contract he knew if he honored this contract when it ended, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett at some point weren't going to be here."
