Paul Pierce is 35 years old and in his 15th year in the NBA. For those reasons, he has no idea when his last season in the NBA - or last season with the Celtics - will be.
So now, he's treating every season like it's his last.
"Yeah, it's entered my mind the last three years," Pierce said when asked if it's ever entered his mind that it could be his last playoffs with the Celtics. "You just never know. This was a team that was built for three or four years. We extended it with me and Kevin. You think some guys are going to retire, or some guys are going to get traded. You never know when the era is going to end. But somehow, some way we keep finding aw ay to push ourselves and extend it. So in the last three years, every year you think this could be the last time this team is together, or maybe I'm a Celtic. And in thinking that, you don't take these moments for granted. And so you try to give your best, you try to give your all and give everything you've got to this team because you never know."
