BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Brooklyn Nets have implemented their own brand of "strategic rest" for Kevin Garnett, it appears. He is not expected to play against his former Celtics teammates tonight.

Garnett, part of the multi-player trade that also shipped Paul Pierce to Brooklyn, didn't sound too pleased about sitting out tonight's game.

"It wasn’t my decision," Garnett told reporters after Brooklyn played Philadelphia on Monday. "So that’s where I’m going to leave that. This is not up to me, and I'm being positive. I'm trying to listen and go with the plan that was laid out for me, and being positive with that, so I'm trusting  Jason (Kidd, Nets coach) and what he has in store for myself and I'm going to embrace it."

Throughout his time in Boston, Garnett often clashed with head coach Doc Rivers when the discussion turned to him missing games.

Yes, even preseason games.
