Garnett speaks about Anthony suspension

BOSTONOn Friday night, Boston Celtics big man Kevin Garnett spoke for the first time about the one-game suspension New York's Carmelo Anthony received for stalking him after the C's win on Monday over the Knicks.

"It's unfortunate that Melo got a game," Garnett told NBATV on Friday.

The two had engaged in trash talk and physical play most of the night that ultimately led to both being whistled for double technical fouls.

Even after the techs, both players continued to jaw at one another as they ran up and down the floor.

After the game, Anthony failed in his attempt to get to the Celtics locker room.

Eventually Anthony returned to the Knicks locker room and dressed out of his uniform, only to wait by the Celtics team bus after the game.

A shouting match between Garnett and Anthony ensued, but security on hand did not allow the incident to escalate beyond that.

In the days following the incident, there were multiple reports that Anthony was so upset at Garnett because Garnett said something about Anthony's wife.

"I would never disrespect anyone's wife or anyone's family," Garnett said. "I'm a better person than that.

Garnett added, "Whenever you get two gladiators, two guys that really want to win things happen. It should have never gotten to that. It's unfortunate, but we've moved on."
