CSNNE basketball analyst Donny Marshall phoned in to CSNNE's SportsNet Central with Kyle Draper after the news of Jason Collins' coming out on Monday.

Marshall was a teammate of Collins with the Nets back when the two were in New Jersey, and like everybody else who seems to know Collins, has nothing but great things to say about him.

"I have to be honest, my first reaction [to the news on his coming out] was, 'What a beautiful thing.'" Marshall said. "I was very proud of Jason Collins, being his teammate in New Jersey."

"The one thing I told Jason Collins today, we had communication through e-mail, and he told me [President] Obama, President Clinton, and Oprah Winfrey all reached out to him in support, and I told him most people fear what they don't know. And who better than Jason to be an instrument of education for this."

Collins played for the Celtics during the 2012-13 season until he was traded to the Wizards at the trade deadline in a  deal for Jordan Crawford.
