Mike Felger was joined by WEEI's Michael Holley and Sports Illustrated's Ian Thomsen to talk Celtics, specifically Doc Rivers leaving the Celtics for the Clippers, and the rebuilding process.

Felger asked Holley straight up if Rivers quit on the Celtics.

"Im going to say Yes," Holley said. "I don't think he wanted to rebuild again. You look at the season before KG and Ray Allen, you're 24-58 you have an 18-game losing streak. Those guys come in gets to two NBA Finals, wins one, loses another one in Game 7. I don't think he wanted to go back there. Eventually he was able to articulate that to the Celtics, and the Celtics felt like $7 million a year were going to be a bad team. I think they both got what they wanted, but I think the impetus of the whole thing was Doc Rivers going to them and saying, 'I'd rather not.'"

Thomsen says that Rivers' heart just wasn't in it to rebuild.

"I think the key thing that he said was, 'I'm in it to win championships, to go for championships'. I think we've all seen when he puts into the job, that he's on top of everything … I don't know that he could have given that effort for this situation the next few years."

The conversation shifts to what the Celtics need to do in the rebuilding stages in order to be good again, and the consensus opinion is to tank and hope for Andrew Wiggins, projected to be the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft next season.

Felger says the Celtics will need to trade Rondo in order to be bad enough to have a good chance at the No. 1 overall pick.

Do you think the Celtics should trade Rondo? Do you think Doc Rivers quit on the team? Let us know!
