The Boston Celtics announced on Monday that they have signed free agent guard Phil Pressey and free agent center Vitor Faverani. The terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Pressey, an undrafted rookie out of Missouri, averaged 9.4 points, 6.6 assists and 2.0 steals in 23.0 minutes per game for the Celtics during the Orlando Summer League. The son of former Celtics assistant Paul Pressey, Phil Pressey is a bit undersized at 5-feet-11-inches tall but has made an early impression on the Celtics' coaching staff. Pressey grew up in Waltham, Mass. before moving to Dallas and playing college ball at Missouri.
Faverani is a 25-year old center who stands 6-feet-11-inches tall. A Brazil native, Faverani averaged 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds last season in the Spanish ACB.
The Celtics' roster is now at 18 players, so Danny Ainge has some work to do to trim that number down.
