Remember when the Celtics had plenty of capable shooting guards to choose from?

It wasn't that long ago . . . but those days are long gone.

Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely can confirm through Celtics GM Danny Ainge a Yahoo! Sports report saying the Celtics will sign guard Vander Blue from the D-League's Delaware 87ers.

Celtics guard Avery Bradley went down with a sprained ankle in the Celtics' 93-86 loss to the Heat, forcing the C's to add somebody. The Celtics have already traded away shooting guards Courtney Lee, Jordan Crawford, and MarShon Brooks.

Blue went undrafted in this year's NBA Draft after leaving Marquette after his junior year. He was on the Philadelphia 76ers training camp roster, but was cut before the season began. He's played in four D-League games for the 87ers, averaging 19.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. Blue scored 35 points in a D-League game on Monday.

In his junior year at Marquette, he averaged 14.8 points per game and earned All-ACC Second Team honors.
