BOSTON — CSNNE.com has learned that the Boston Celtics plan to sign Chris Johnson for the remainder of this season.

The 6-foot-6 guard whose second, 10-day contract was due to expire today, brings the Celtics' roster with guaranteed contracts, to 14.

Last week, Ainge said that keeping Johnson around for the rest of the season was going to be a difficult decision.

"It's a complicated time of year for us with the trade deadline coming up," Ainge told CSNNE.com. "We like everything about Chris. We're hoping to keep him around, but there's a lot more that prevents that from happening or could prevent that from happening."

Johnson's agent Marc Cornstein was confident that his client had done all that he could to position himself to be picked up for the remainder of the season.

"When he had a couple of 10 day deals in Memphis last year, I think he proved at that time that he could play in the NBA," Cornstein told CSNNE.com. "But in Boston, he showed that he could be an NBA contributor. That's what I think Boston and any team for that matter, wants to see."

Because of his time with the Grizzlies last year, Johnson's salary for the remainder of the season will be pro-rated from the minimum which for second-year players, is $788,872.
