Earlier this morning, I was looking at the box score from Curry’s 54-point game and tried to come up with a comparable all-time Celtic performance.
In other words, I wanted to finish this sentence:
What Curry did last night reminds me of the time . . .
And there was no easy answer.
After all, Curry had 11 three-pointers Wednesday night, which is two better than the Celtics' franchise record. Also, there are only two Celtics -— Bird and McHale -— who have ever scored more than 54 points, and they combined to hit ONE THREE in those two games. Basically, we’ve never seen a Celtic score so many points while relying so heavily on the outside game. It’s part what makes Curry dominance so unique. But if forced to choose, here’s the best Celtics comparison that I can come up with.
Antoine Walker scores 47 points (including 9-for-14 from three) and adds 13 assists, five rebounds and four steals against Chris Webber and the Kings.
And just to add to the Curry comparison, the Celtics lost — 111-106.
