BOSTON — The Boston Celtics will continue their short-handed ways tonight against Cleveland, with Paul Pierce the latest to miss games due to an injury.
Pierce will not play in tonight's game against the Cavs due to a right ankle injury he re-aggravated in Boston's 98-93 win over Detroit on Wednesday.
"I think he'll be fine by Sunday (against Washington)," said C's coach Doc Rivers. "It's just sore so we're not going to play him."
This will be the second time in Boston's last three games that Pierce will be out, although the previous absence (at Minnesota on Monday) was due to the birth of his son, Prince Paul Pierce.
Without Pierce, the Celtics will use the same starting lineup they had against the Timberwolves.
Avery Bradley and Courtney Lee will start in the backcourt, with Jeff Green, Brandon Bass and Chris Wilcox in the frontcourt.
