Ray Allen wasn't going to let a little think like a bum ankle keep him off the floor at crunch time Monday night.
"I was running, and I hit a wet spot and I slipped," Allen told Comcast SportsNet's Greg Dickerson of his fourth-quarter injury after the Celtics' 94-85 victory over the Clippers. "And as I slipped my ankle turned over, and I tried to kind fall off it so I wouldn't put a lot of pressure on it . . . "
But there was still pain.
"I tried to put weight on it when I was on the floor, and I couldn't," he said.
Allen was helped off the court, and slowly began to put pressure on his injured foot after returning to the locker room. Eventually he was mobile enough to continue to play, and came back to help the C's close out the game-ending 25-7 run that led them to victory.
"I'm . . . sure I'll be sore Tuesday, but we'll deal with it," he said. "That's what we do on off-days."
