The Bruins have been here before.
Down 3-2 heading back to the Garden. A win means Game 7. A loss means the opposing captain raising the Stanley Cup in the B’s own rink.
In 2011, the Bruins were down 3-2 to the Vancouver Canucks, but forced a Game 7 with a 5-2 win on Garden ice. They went on to win Game 7 in Vancouver with a 4-0 win. So this isn’t uncharted territory for the Black and Gold.
And being that they’ll be going home to the TD Garden, where they’re comfortable playing, the tall task of winning two in a row for the Cup seems a little less daunting.
“We’re going to be confident at home,” said Rich Peverley, who won 7 of 14 faceoffs and registered 2 hits in 13:49 of ice time in Game 5. "We’ve played well at home of late and it doesn’t mean it’s a given it’ll be a tough game, they have a clinching game.”
Do you think the Bruins can win Game 6 at home to force a winner-take-all Game 7?
