Another Bruins overtime, another win. The team has figured out a way to score first in the extra session, and that was the case Thursday night in Game 1, a 3-2 overtime win for the B's.
Shawn Thornton joined Mike Felger and Tony Amonte on CSNNE's Postgame Live after the win and talked about the B's mindset in overtime.
"We're kind of just leaving it all out there," Thornton said. "The guys have been doing a good job of right off the bat trying to create pressure and not sitting back and trying to take control of the game. I think the last little bit we've been pretty good at that.
That experience in those situation has made the B's poised, but Thornton knows the Rangers have just as much experience in those pressure situations.
"A little bit, I don't see anybody panicking with the puck," he said of his team's poise. "But they're an experienced group over there too, so I'm not sure if we really even have the advantage there. They've had their share of Game 7's over the last few years too. But I think the guys did a pretty good job of not panicking, we made some plays. It was a heck of a play by "Z" [Chara] before that last goal getting that puck to go the other way for those guys, I think all in all it was a pretty good effort."
It'll be a physical series for sure, and Game 1 was no exception. That means that Thornton's line could be called upon more often.
"I'm hoping that we're a factor in a positive way. You definitely have to be strong along the walls with these guys. They're a heavy team to play against. They have a very hard work ethic. They battle hard. If we can win the walls we'll have a little bit more success but it's not easy with them, they battle hard."
