One game down for the Boston Bruins, one win.

The Bruins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning in the season opener 3-1, and Shawn Thornton was in the mix as he fought Pierre-Cedric Labrie in the first period.

Shawn Thornton joined Michael Felger on PostGame Live to discuss the how the first game of the season went for the Bruins.

“We have some work to do,” Thornton said. “It’s the first game for everyone. I think first time our team has been completely together for the season. We are going to have a little work to do to get back to where we need to be. We got a win. We found a way to win, that’s probably the most important thing right now.”

Even though Thornton’s line remains intact, with the additions to the roster, the Bruins may go through an adjustment period.

“Everybody is going to take some getting use to, trying to find that chemistry,” Thornton said. “It takes a little bit of time still. Even though we had a short offseason, as you get going it will get better and better, hopefully as we run along here.”
