OTTAWA Tim Thomas broke his silence tonight at the NHL All-Star fantasy draft and made his first public statement since skipping the White House ceremony on Monday morning.
Thomas was the second-round choice by his team captain Zdeno Chara after the big defenseman and All-Star assistant captain Joffrey Lupul tapped Pavel Datsyuk was taken with Team Charas first pick. TSN host James Duthie prompted Thomas with a question about it being a slow week for the Bruins goaltender after making national news by sitting out the White House event honoring the Stanley Cup champs.
"I followed my conscience. I'm extremely grateful for the support for my teammates, friends and fans, said Thomas. I said in my statement that I wouldnt have any more to say about it. We're in Ottawa to talk about the game of hockey this weekend.
The All-Star game will be played at Scotiabank Place on Sunday afternoon featuring Chara, Thomas and Bruins forward Tyler Seguin in the proceedings.
