WILMINGTON, MA -- Tim Thomas has stated, in no uncertain terms, that he'll shut down any interviews where he's asked about the White House controversy.
And the 37-year-old goaltender did just that on Monday morning.
With the Bruins playing the Capitals in the first round of the playoffs, the logical question was whether the ThomasWhite House brouhaha would be brought up during the playoff series since the incident occurred in Washington. Theconcern is, it could become a distraction all over again if the Washington media picks up on the storyline. So Thomas was asked after Monday's practice at Ristuccia Arena whether he was worried the White House questions would "kick up". It's a question the goaltender is sure to face multiple times with national media about to descend upon the Bruins-Capitals series. What was Thomas' response?"Thanks, guys," he said with a smile as he walked away from a semi-circle of reporters around his locker stall at Ristuccia Arena."We finally got someone to get me out of a media session' early."With that, Thomas was done and Bruins PR maven Matt Chmura was sent over to Thomas' locker to pick up the belongings he'd left behind while rushing away from the media throng. It was the first time Thomas had been asked about skipping out on the White House since he exclaimed "I'm out . . . peace" during a media scrum in early February before similarly walking away from the group of reporters.
