BOSTON -- The Bruins are back at work on New Year’s Day after a disappointing loss to the New York Islanders on Tuesday night where they blew a pair of leads, including a two-goal advantage in the second period.
Loui Eriksson, Carl Soderberg and Dougie Hamilton are all on the ice practicing with the rest of the team. Both Hamilton and Soderberg have been cleared for contact judging by the normal practice jerseys they’ve donned for the workout.
Eriksson is wearing a green practice jersey, which would denote it’s another non-contact session for him as he works himself back into shape after two concussions within a 45-day span. With Soderberg’s return to the third line alongside Ryan Spooner and Matt Fraser, it would appear Nick Johnson has been sent back down to Providence. He was absent from the practice ice on Wednesday.
Claude Julien said after Wednesday's practice that Hamilton and Soderberg should both be in the lineup tomorrow after being given the "full go" from the Bruins medical staff.
Shawn Thornton is filling in as a defenseman partner with Hamilton, who looks like he’s picking up steam and could return soon from his lower-body injury.
