WILMINGTON -- The Bruins returned to the practice ice on Monday at Ristuccia Arena after a day off on Sunday and had a sparsely attended optional practice with no game until Thursday’s tilt in Montreal.
Six Bruins players were on the ice stretching their legs and taking a few shots on net, while Dougie Hamilton also jumped out on the ice to test out some new skates with the Bruins training staff.
Both Tuukka Rask and Chad Johnson were out on the ice working with goalie coach Bob Essensa, which was surprising given that Rask has played in 22 out of 27 games thus far this season. But it was a rare chance to work with the B’s goalie coach in a busy season over the first two months.
“It’s because Goalie Bob was here to go out and work on some things,” said a smiling Rask. “He was trying to be a hero. Seriously, it was good to go out and have a good goalie skate because we’ve been playing in a lot of games recently.”
The six B’s skaters that actually practiced at Ristuccia Arena were Rask, Johnson, Danny Paille, Shawn Thornton, Matt Bartkowski and Jordan Caron.
