Tim Thomas is prepared to make his triumphant return to the NHL . . . but -- cue the wailing trumbone -- no one else is, it seems.
According to the Calgary Sun, Thomas hasn't made "much, if any, progress" in free agency. It's been three weeks, and the 39 year-old former Vezina-winning goalie hasn't been scooped up by anyone.
The Flyers, Panthers and Islanders were teams who reportedly may have had some interest in Thomas, but none of them are biting just yet. Crazy, one might think, given that Thomas is just one season removed from going 35-19-1 with a 2.36 goals against average and a .920 save percentage.
But perhaps it was the way Thomas went out, burning his bridges in Boston and taking a year off so late in his career, that has scared other teams off. There's still time for Timmy to sign, but it's looking like he may need a team to get desperate before they're willing to give him a shot.
