Thomas refuses comment on latest political statement

BUFFALOTim Thomas is determined to take the passive-aggressive route regarding his recent decision to make political statements.

The latest came Wednesday, when he made a vague, politically-charged Facebook post that referenced the Catholic Churchs battle for religious freedom along with an anti-Nazi quote. It appears to be a reference to an ongoing battle between the federal government and the church over the distribution of contraception.

When asked about it twice Wednesday night after the Bruins' 6-0 loss to the Sabres, he refused to comment.

"That's my personal life, said Thomas, who allowed three goals in 19 shots in relief of Tuukka Rask. I won't be commenting on it. Its got nothing to do with the game of hockey or my job as a Boston Bruin."

However, Facebook is a public online forum. The stance that political postings on his Facebook page are personal statements is contradictory, given that Thomas is an extremely public figure given his superstar status as the best goaltender in the world.
