Julien calls out Horton and Lucic

SUNRISE, FL.While Claude Julien spoke glowingly of Patrice Bergeron and the rest of his line after spearheading the offense in Bostons 3-2 shootout win over the Florida Panthers Monday night, other forwards werent quite as lucky.
Bergeron scored a pair of goals and his linemates were in the mix creating the plays. And David Krejci managed to pop in the game-winning shootout score during the extra session. But Krejcis wingers, Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton, were nowhere to be found.
Lucic and Horton combined for three shots on net and three registered hits in over 35 minutes of ice time, and neither took advantage of the kind of physical power they should enjoy over the Panthers. In their coachs eyes, both players looked tired despite the Bruins having played the fewest games of any NHL team at this point in the season.
Not only that, Boston has also played the fewest road games of any team to this point.
So there are really no excuses for Lucic and Horton no-showing against the Panthers when the Bruins are already missing Brad Marchand (suspension) and Rich Peverley (personal matter) from the lineup. While Lucic can be excused, given that hes put up 16 goals and 34 points, Horton needs to go on a nice, extended hot streak.
Looch looked like he had heavy legs tonight; Horton was the same thing," said Julien.
"Horton has got to pick up his game. No ifs or buts about it. A guy his size needs to get more physically involved. He needs to compete a lot harder. Hes skating hardyou can see it on the backcheckbut we need more from him.
When hes emotionally engaged, he scores goals and hes a difference-maker. Hes got to find his game. Were at the point where were a little shorthanded and we need him to step up.
So let that be the wakeup call for Horton from his coach. With a couple of valuable regulars missing from the lineup its time for Horton to become a little bit more of the physical force he can be when he wants to be. The good thing for both Horton and Lucic: theyll get their chance Tuesday night in Tampa Bay against a Lightning team thats truly struggled this season.
