NEWARKThe Bruins were humbled on the road by Dallas in a lacking effort their last time out, and they took their frustrations out on an overwhelmed New Jersey Devils squad.

The Bs fired off five unanswered goals after David Clarkson opened the game up with a power play goal for New Jersey, and Boston simply dominated the third period once again in a 6-1 drubbing of the Devils at Prudential Center.

The victory closes out a three-game post-Christmas road trip, and sets up a four-game homestand against several Western Conference opponents including a tilt against the Flames on Thursday night.

Patrice Bergeron scored a pair of goalsincluding a beautiful defense-into-offense score that went from blocked shot at the point into breakaway at the other end in the second periodgot goals from three of their forward lines in a well-rounded victory.

Clarkson took advantage of an over-aggressive Boston penalty kill unit for the first goal, but Tim Thomas stood tall in front of the 16-shot first period barrage otherwise. Thomas stalwart goalie play allowed the Bruins to get untracked, and Gregory Campbell tied things up by tipping an Andrew Ference shot past Martin Brodeur.

Nathan Horton followed with a power play strike on a cross-ice feed from David Krejci, who was similarly dominant, and the Bruins were off and running. They added Bergerons breakaway that started as a shorthanded penalty kill shot block in the second period, and then Bergeron and Krejci added goals in the final 20 minutes to top off the victory.

While Bergeron had the two markers, Milan Lucic led all Bruins scorers with three assists in the victory and showed impressive in the final period taking a couple of heavy body shots while setting up Krejcis score. Shawn Thornton added a third period goal to close out the scoring.
