Bruins call up Camper from Providence

ST. PAUL, MNThe Bruins continue to search for line combinations and players that will give them some offensive pop, and theyve called up a player from Providence they hope might provide a spark.

Carter Camper is coming off a hat trick on Sunday against the Connecticut Whale and was the only P-Bruins player invited to take part in the AHL All-Star game last month. Camper has 14 goals and 24 assists in 53 games for the Providence farm club, and will be enjoying his first call-up to the NHL when he meets the Bruins in St. Louis for a scheduled Tuesday practice at the Scottrade Center.

Carter was a college hockey standout at Miami (Ohio) University, made Frozen Four appearances and was a Hobey Baker finalist in his senior year before signing with the Bruins organization as an undrafted free agent.

The bruised and battered Bruins clearly needed an extra forward while carrying just 12 bodies on the front line following the injury to Rich Peverley, but there may also be a desire to catch offensive lightning in a bottle given that hes been feeling it offensively at the American Hockey League level.
