Peverley: “Getting better every day”

WILMINGTON -- Rich Peverley spoke to the media while the Bruins were on the ice for their late afternoon practice on Friday at Ristuccia Arena.

Peverley skated for the first time on Wednesday, and skated again on Friday, prior to the team's session. Afterwards, he said his sprained MCL is "getting better every day" and that he's right on schedule with the original 4-6 week timetable.

"The first couple of days were kind of just getting back into it, and today was a little bit harder, a little longer," said Peverley. "I felt pretty good on the ice. It's just about taking gradual steps."

Peverley has been missing from the Bruins' lineup since mid-February, and said his goal is to return before the regular-season ends on April 7.

"I think it would be tough to just go right into the playoffs," said Peverley. "I'd like to get in. But I'm taking it day by day right now, and we'll see where it goes."
