BOSTON -- There was an optional skate for the Bruins on Saturday morning as they get ready for the Maple Leafs, which will be perhaps another emotionally invested hockey team that the B’s eliminated from the postseason last spring. The Leafs skipped morning skate completely after defeating the Devils in a 2-1 shootout win during a rare Friday night game at the Air Canada Centre.
This should be old hat for the Bruins after the Black and Gold walked into a hornet’s nest in Pittsburgh several weeks ago and didn’t match the emotion level put out by the Penguins.
It’s expected to be Tuukka Rask vs. James Reimer in net just as it was in Game 7 of the first round last spring. Jordan Caron and Matt Bartkowski once again appear to be the healthy scratches for the Bruins.
Reimer seems to have this game in the proper perspective for Toronto, but I’d expect a little truth serum might draw from him a little bit of a different answer.
"Sure, we'll want to go into Boston and have a good game,” Reimer told reporters in Toronto. "It's a new season and we've got over what's happened . . . I'd want to go in there and play well, but even if you win, it doesn't prove anything. If we were to play them again in the playoffs, that would be the retribution.”
