With new faces in Boston this season, some newcomers have impressed during the first half of the season while others have left many wanting more from them.
Mike Felger and Mike Milbury on Cross Check discussed the newcomers that have impressed them so far this season.
“This is a guy that the Bruins have been trying to get for like three or four years, trying to get him out of Sweden,” said Felger of Carl Soderberg. “They finally did. In terms of points he’s way down the list. I like the guy and I’ll tell you why. He goes hard into the boards. He goes hard to the net. I don’t think he totally understands the North American game yet, but he has only had 45 games under his belt or whatever it is here in North America. I think in time, this guy will be okay.”
One of the more impressive players is Reilly Smith, who has exploded onto the scene this season with 15 goals and 17 assists.
“Reilly Smith is terrific,” Milbury said. “I think that’s been a great acquisition and that was what was suppose to carry this trade. Unfortunately, [Loui] Eriksson has been hurt and that’s been a problem. But, Reilly Smith looks like he is going to be a top six forward. He’s only 22-years-old, this is a guy that’s learning about the league and has time to do it.”
