The Bruins will take on a slightly different look Thursday night when they suit up against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Rangy defenseman Adam McQuaid will miss his second straight game with a lower body injured suffered last weekend against the Toronto Maple Leafs, though coach Claude Julien said he spotted the 6-foot-5 blueliner working out on the bike in the TD Garden gym this morning in a tiny bit of good news.

“I know he was in the gym this morning working out, so he’s progressing,” said Julien. “It’s day-by-day. I don’t even know if we’re going to take him on the trip. I probably won’t know until this afternoon, or after the game tonight.”

The Bruins haven’t made a decision on whether McQuaid will travel with the Bruins on their upcoming three-game road trip that starts tomorrow night in Ottawa, but his absence also gives Matt Bartkowski a chance to get his skating legs under him after playing in three of Boston’s first 16 games this season.

“[Bartkowski] was good. I always take into consideration when he hadn’t played in a long time, so he’s got an opportunity to get on a bit of a roll,” said Julien. “Hopefully he continues that tonight, and keeps getting better and more confident.”

Chad Johnson is getting the start for the Bruins – his third appearance in 18 games this season – but otherwise the Black and Gold should feature the same lineup as they did Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Here are the forward combos and D-pairings based on pregame warm-up:

Lucic-Krejci-Iginla

Marchand-Bergeron-Eriksson

Soderberg-Kelly-Smith

Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Chara-Hamilton

Seidenberg-Krug

Bartkowski-Boychuk

Johnson
