WILMINGTON -- The Bruins will be down at least one defenseman headed into Thursday night’s game at the Bell Centre against the Montreal Canadiens.

Adam McQuaid will be out of the lineup with a lingering groin injury. The rugged B’s defenseman re-aggravated an injury against Columbus over the weekend that originally kept him out of the lineup for eight games. It will prevent him from taking the road trip to Montreal with the rest of his teammates.

There was no other update on McQuaid, who was not on the ice for practice or in the dressing room following the on-ice session.

Instead it will likely be Matt Bartkowski replacing him in the lineup, or Kevan Miller if Torey Krug -- who did get back on the practice ice on Wednesday -- can’t answer the bell on Thursday. No matter what happens, the Bruins got a couple of good practice days in at Ristuccia Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday before departing for Quebec on Wednesday afternoon.

“[McQuaid] is not even going to make the trip,” said Julien. “We’ve practiced hard the last couple of days, and did some scrimmaging at the end of practice in game-like situations, so we could get some rust out. We’re trying to prepare ourselves the best we can.”

It seems that the B’s defensemen situation has been in major flux over the last three weeks due to a series of injuries, so Julien and his players will be prepared no matter which scenario presents itself for game time against the Habs.
