PITTSBURGH – The Bruins are showing confidence in their backup goaltender by putting him into a big spot against the other big Eastern Conference power, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Anton Khudobin will get his sixth start of the season for the Black and Gold, and the Bruins will maintain their consistent game plan to split up the goaltending chores on both ends of back-to-back games. Khudobin is 4-1 this season while establishing himself as a competent NHL goalie for the first time in his career, and is sporting a 2.41 goals against average and a .910 save percentage this season. He’ll be opposed by Marc-Andre Fleury, who continues to skate on by in Pittsburgh while being supported by a cast of players that produce oodles of offense for him.’

The 38-year-old veteran Jay Pandolfo will be inserted into the lineup in place of injured Chris Kelly, and Rich Peverley will slide into the center position while making full use of his versatility. Here are the line combos and defensive pairings in Boston’s biggest regular season game of the year thus far:

Lucic-Krejci-Horton

Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin

Pandolfo-Peverley-Caron

Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Chara-Boychuk
