After a slow start, the Bruins finished in a big way.
The Bruins were outshot 19-4 in the first period, but goalie Tuukka Rask limited the Blackhawks to just one goal in the period. Boston outshot Chicago 24-15 the rest of the way and came out on top in overtime, 2-1, to tie the series.
Coach Claude Julien said the Bruins did not start the game well, but were ready to play after the first period.
"The first period was a period that we were really disappointed with," Julien said. "From the second period on, we seemed to slowly get better and better. The further the game went, the better we got. That's just the way it was."
