BOSTON -- The Bruins were sure to have some adjustments playing their second game in slightly more than 24 hours in a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day matinee tilt at TD Garden. That was obvious when backup netminder Chad Johnson led the Black and Gold onto the ice as today’s starter.

It’s the second start in the last three games for Johnson after he hadn’t started a game since Dec. 19. It's probably the right move given that Rask played 65 plus minutes in an intense shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.

Johnson is 7-3-0 with a 2.27 goals against average and .918 save percentage in 12 appearances for the Bruins this season, and was excellent in making 32 saves against the Dallas Stars in Thursday night’s win.
Former UMass start Jonathan Quick will be the netminder for the Kings in their only visit to Boston this season.

Zach Trotman was in the lineup for the injured Adam McQuaid and will be paired with Torey Krug as the bottom defenseman pair. That means Matt Bartkowski and Kevan Miller and will be logging big minutes for the Bruins, and Zdeno Chara and Johnny Boychuk register as the only veteran defenseman among Boston’s six blueliners.

Here are the line combos and D-pairings based on the pregame warm-up:

Lucic-Krejci-Iginla
Marchand-Bergeron-Smith
Soderberg-Spooner-Eriksson
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Chara-Boychuk
Bartkowski-Miller
Krug-Trotman
