The NHL lockout is set to begin at midnight on Saturday.

Neither side appears close enough to avoid it, and who knows how long it will last. The NFL came to an agreement in time before missing the regular season. The NBA? Not so much. They missed a couple months, and ended up cramming games in to make up enough games.

But the NBA fans returned when the NBA did.
