*With the Senators trading away Jason Spezza, a great deal of pressure falls on Kyle Turris in Ottawa.

*I must have missed this in late June: the Red Wings say that Daniel Alfredsson will either play for the Red Wings, or retire. So cross him off the list as remote possibilities for the Black and Gold.

*PHT writer Ryan Dadoun has Florida Panthers phenom Alexander Barkov looking good, but still less than 100 percent from his knee injury.

*Rich Peverley spoke about his recovery, and his hopes to resume his NHL career next season, or at some point in the future. We’re all rooting for him.

*Anze Kopitar and his dog were crushing the Stanley Cup in his native Slovenia. That doesn’t make him a “Stanley Pup” like Jack Edwards’ dog, does it?

*Steve Ott re-signs with the St. Louis Blues for two more seasons, and said remaining with the Blues was his top choice.

*For something completely different: some info on the “Better Call Saul” spin-off from Breaking Bad.
