*Neil Greenberg gives an effective statistical takedown of Brooks Orpik, and why he should end up being an albatross in Washington.

*PK Subban and Lars Eller file for arbitration with the Canadiens, and end the possibility that any team could send an offer sheet to Subban, a restricted free agent.

*Spector has some rumors, including a list of available forward free agents that would have been a lot more impressive in 2010: Dany Heatley among them. Some people asked me about the Bruins potentially going after the former 50-goal scorer and Ottawa Senator over the weekend, but I say pass on him. He looked cooked on the ice for the Wild last season, and he’s never been one of the world’s greatest guys off the ice either. In my humble opinion, that’s not the kind of player that the Bruins need.

*PHT writer Ryan Dadoun has Calgary’s Ryan Gaudreau hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow little man, Marty St. Louis.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Adrian Dater has Jarome Iginla hoping to follow Ray Bourque’s Stanley Cup footsteps from Boston to Colorado. Iginla likes his chances of winning a Cup in Colorado with a young crew, but the Western Conference isn’t going to be kind to the Avs over the next couple of years.

*While the Detroit Red Wings missed out on big free agent defenseman targets, they’re hoping they can pry Tyler Myers out of Buffalo.

*A bit about 6-foot-7 UMass senior Oleg Yevenko, who has been invited among the 23 players set to attend B’s development camp.

*A column about why NHL free agency is better than NBA free agency: I would have just stopped at the complicated NBA salary cap, which is not fan- or media-friendly and really takes the fun speculation element out of things.

*For something completely different: Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks gives out some advice to men.
