With the offseason here for the Boston Bruins, theres not much to do other then look back at last season, and look forward to next season. With that in mind, the guys at Pro Hockey Talk examined the Bruins midseason acquisition of Brian Rolston and Mike Mattau in exchange forYannick Riendeau and Marc Cantin.
Rolston put up 15 points in 21 regular season games and started the postseason well, scoring a point in each of the first three games. He faded at the end, probably because hes 39 years old, but considering they gave up nothing to get him and Mottau, the Bruins did okay.
A fair assessment. What's interesting to note is that there is no mention of the deal that brought Greg Zanon to town in exchange for Steve Kampfer.
Zanon mind you did almost more harm than good during the Bruins opening round defeat to the Washington Capitals, allowing three important goals while on the ice. It would be fair to say that this deal didn't work out in the Bruins favor.
