WILMINGTON -- Swedish winger Loui Eriksson is missing from Bruins practice at Ristuccia Arena on Wednesday morning once again after not playing in Tuesday night’s game against the Florida Panthers with a “minor issue.”
The Bruins have maintained that the Eriksson absence has nothing to do with the impending trade deadline at 3 p.m., but the timing is suspect at best given some of the big top-six forward names -- like Columbus Blue Jackets sniper Marian Gaborik -- that the B’s have been scouting over the last couple of weeks.
Players involved in imminent trade discussions are often held off the ice prior to the deadline to prevent any last minute injuries from nixing the deals However, a Bruins source told CSNNE.com on Wednesday morning that "Loui Eriksson won't be getting traded," and that instead he's dealing with a "minor ailment."
Jordan Caron is skating in place of Eriksson on the Bruins third line, and otherwise everybody is accounted for at Bruins practice aside from injured defenseman Adam McQuaid. Meanwhile, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli told his team's web site this morning that he won't be moving anybody from his roster today.
