BOSTON -- Almost a week after the Bruins claimed him off waivers, Kaspars Daugavins reported to the team on Tuesday, and he hit the ice for pregame warmups, wearing No. 16.

However, he was not in the lineup against the Ottawa Senators at the TD Garden.

Before the game, general manager Peter Chiarelli addressed the media, regarding the Jaromir Jagr trade, and he also explained why he acquired Daugavins.

"I like him as a player," said Chiarelli. "I think he's got a lot of elements to his game that are consistent with, or compatible with our game. He's strong. I think he's skilled. And for whatever reason, he wasn't getting played a lot, or whatever. He didn't fit [in Ottawa], so that's fine. So we'll see where he fits. He's still a young player, so you try to get him in and look at him, and see where it goes."
