PITTSBURGH – The Bruins had fooled around with their defensive pairings over the last couple of days, but they were back to the old standbys on Saturday morning in anticipation of tonight’s Game 1 at the CONSOL Energy Center. Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg were skating together as a shutdown pairing, and are expected to draw duty against the Evgeni Malkin, James Neal and Jarome Iginla forward line when the puck is dropped.

Meanwhile, Patrice Bergeron’s line will get the defensive duty against the speedy, productive Sidney Crosby line as the Bruins divide up the best defensive players in their lineup.

Otherwise it appears to be the exact same lineup as the victorious one against the New York Rangers a week ago, and Matt Bartkowski will get the nod over Andrew Ference in the Game 1 lineup. Claude Julien wouldn’t confirm whether or not Ference had been medically cleared to play, but he’s practiced for five straight days without any signs of hesitation or setbacks.

Here are the forward combos and D-pairings for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Penguins based on the pregame skate in Pittsburgh:

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Jagr
Peverley-Kelly-Seguin
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Chara-Seidenberg
Bartkowski-Boychuk
Krug-McQuaid
