John Scott has been suspended by the NHL for his hit on Loui Eriksson.

Lost in the midst of the Boston Red Sox being in the World Series, the Boston Bruins had some news of their own on Wednesday night.

In the third period against the Buffalo Sabres, Sabres’ defenseman John Scott delivered a hit to Loui Eriksson’s head, knocking Eriksson out of the game.

Eriksson is out indefinitely with a concussion and Scott has been suspended by the NHL pending a hearing.

President of the Boston Bruins Cam Neely joined Michael Felger and Tony Massarotti to talk about the hit.

“I didn’t like the hit, didn’t like it at all,” Neely said. “I didn’t think it was necessary, obviously. I’m sure the league will look long and hard at this.”

With player safety in the limelight more than ever, the NHL might have to take extra measures to ensure players safety.

“The start of the season what’s happened so far is something none of us want to see happen,” Neely said. “There has to be a way to figure this out, there really has to be because we are losing good players to concussions.”
