Bruins announce development camp roster

The Bruins have announced their preliminary roster for next week’s development camp at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, Mass., and it includes a massive roster of 37 players including all 10 players selected in the NHL Draft last month. The overall roster includes 24 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goaltenders, and boasts 28 players within the Bruins organization. Nine additional players, many with local New England ties, will attend on an invite basis.

The ninth annual development camp is set open on Tuesday, with the final session taking place next Friday, July 17. It marks the final real scheduled event on the B’s organizational calendar prior to training camp in September.

The overall roster:

Here’s a little about the non-draft pick invitees:

Frank Dichiara, 21, 6-foot-2, 218 pounds, spent 2014-15 with Yale, where he appeared in 33 collegiate games while racking up nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points (led the team), all of which registered as career highs.

Boston University defenseman Brien Diffley, of Burlington, Mass., joins camp after finishing his rookie season with the Terriers, where he recorded one goal and 10 assists for 11 points in 40 games with a plus-eight rating.

Zach Frye, a 6-1, 200-pound defenseman from Spokane, Wash., finished his first year with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, where he finished with 2 goals and 8 points to go along with 33 penalty minutes in 29 contests.

Goalie Michael Garteig, 6-1, 185, finished his third season with Quinnipiac University, where he went 22-10-3 while posting a 2.03 goals-against average with a .917 save percentage (career high) 36 games.

Mark Hamilton, 21, of Winthrop, Mass., is 6-3, 220 and joins camp after his rookie collegiate season with the University of Maine. In 39 games, he scored one goal and collected six assists.

Alex Iafallo, 21, 6-1, 185, completed his second season at the University of Minnesota–Duluth, where he notched eight goals and recorded 17 assists for 25 points with a plus-16 rating.

Andrew Poturalski, 5-10, 190, completed his first season with the University of New Hampshire in 2014-15 where he played in 40 games and finished with 14 goals and 29 points.

Ontario native Brandon Tanev, 6-0, 180, recently finished his third season with Providence College, where he collected 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points with a plus-17 rating.

Saugus, Mass. native Michael Vecchione, 22, has played for Union College the last two seasons, racking up 33 goals and 51 assists for 84 points in that span.
