When the Bruins locked up Tuukka Rask on Wednesday, they locked up an important piece for the near future.
The B's now have most of their core in place for the next few years, and are expected to ink Patrice Bergeron for an extension as well.
Marc Bertrand, who joined Gary Tanguay and Michael Felger on UNO Sports Tonight, sees this as a sign that the future as primed for a strong run in the next five years. And much of that credit goes to Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli.
"I think you do (have to give Chiarelli credit)," Bertrand said. "Some people even questioned the Zdeno Chara contract and what he made. And it just seems like as far as what (Chiarelli's) done and what this team has accomplished you have to give the guy credit. I mean, two out of three Stanley Cup Finals, they won a championship, they're in good shape."
