BOSTON -- The Bruins did all they could to shield the nature of Patrice Bergeron's injury from the media, the public and -- most of all -- the Blackhawks prior to Monday night's Game 6, and now we know why.
Bergeron -- who, according to coach Claude Julien, was suffering from a "body injury" -- actually had:
- A broken rib
- Torn rib cartilage
- A separated shoulder
Bergeron told the media of his ailments after the Bruins' heartbreaking, 3-2 loss in Game 6 on Monday night. He also said that concerns about spleen damage were what prompted his visit to the hospital Saturday night in Chicago.
