BOSTON -- Jason Terry tried to play the role of peacemaker during the Boston Celtics altercation with the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, but he had fighting words for former teammate Kris Humphries after the game.
"Some guys are tough. Some guys pretend to be. He's one of those that pretends to be," said Terry. "I played with him (on the 2009-10 Dallas Mavericks). Maybe that's the role (head coach) Avery (Johnson) wants him to have, but he could leave that to somebody else."
Humphries fouled Garnett in the second quarter (which Terry deemed "unnecessary"), knocking him to the ground as he drove to the basket. Rajon Rondo then pushed Humphries and a scuffle spilled into the stands. Rondo and Humphries, along with Gerald Wallace, were ejected.
Terry described Humphries as "soft" when they played together three seasons ago. When he was told head coach Doc Rivers also called the Celtics "soft," Terry had a quick response.
"Well Humphries might as well come play with us then if that's the case," he replied.
