Stiemsma gives update on plantar fasciitis

BOSTON -- Following the Celtics win against the Miami Heat on Tuesday, Celtics center Greg Stiemsma, who did not play, was undecided on whether or not he will play on Thursday in the regular season finale against the Milwaukee Bucks. His main priority before the playoffs is resting his right foot, in which he has plantar fasciitis.

Well see on Thursday. I havent decided yet, he told CSNNE.com. I could have played tonight, but I was taking advantage of a little opportunity to get some rest.

Stiemsma has battled injuries in both feet this season. He also has a bone bruise in his right foot.

The Celtics will look to Stiemsma in the postseason to make an impact off the bench backing up Kevin Garnett. He is averaging 5.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks over his last 10 games.

With the playoffs scheduled to start this weekend, Stiemsma hopes to take advantage of any remaining time off he can find.

Rest is the only thing really thats going to help it, he said. Its going to be able to really make it feel better. Obviously we have a couple days to do it, so I want to take advantage of that with more important things yet to come.
