Gary Tanguay and Brian Scalabrine took some time to discuss the criticism about Jared Sullinger's athletic ability. Although they acknowledge his athletics, high praise is given to his intelligence on the court.
"Jared Sullinger is a good basketball player. We are going to keep talking about him the whole entire year." Said Brian Scalabrine. "He understands spacing, he understands rotation. He understands when Kevin Garnett gets two guys on him 'I got to go to the middle of the lane and get a layup.'"
Scal doesn't think his athletic ability will hold him back in the NBA as there are other players in a similar situation.
"Yes he is not as athletic as some people," continues Scalabrine "Listen, there are a lot of good players in the NBA that aren't athletic in the NBA that still can get it done. This guy is one of them"
"He's a good player, he's a smart player. Will that athletic ability hinder him against the Miami Heat teams? We'll see. But I'll tell you what, intelligence is very underrated in the NBA right now."
